Do you feel like your life is slipping away from you?

Like the world around you is boring and dull? Is that too forward of me to ask?

I only bring it up because I used to feel like that, and it was exhausting.

If you’re anything like me, you’re creative and you’re weird. Congrats! I, for one, have quite the collection of nerd paraphernalia strewn about every surface of my apartment… I keep hiding D&D minifigs around the living room and seeing how long it takes my roommate to find them all.

But here’s the problem with us creative weirdos like you and me: when we get tired, it seems impossible to do anything remotely creative.

Like the average American, we start scrolling through some form of social media until someone or something snaps us out of it.  We get this pit of guilt in our chest—this feeling that we’ve just utterly wasted our time.

With that comes the panic, which is quickly masked by apathy.

Our mundane routines exhausts us while the unaccounted for changes in schedule annoy us, and yet we still can’t enjoy our free time because we keep thinking we should be doing something instead of relaxing.

All around, a lose-lose-lose.

So we keep scrolling—what else can we do? We get sucked in, spending hours on YouTube Shorts when we’d only intended to take a quick glance—soaking up gallons of useless, fragmented bits of information.

It’s stimulation without an end—it’s like exclusively eating potato chips. It’s a good snack… but for every meal? Think of your poor arteries!

You deserve a better way to decompress.

You deserve to take back control of your time.

This world that we live in is very interesting, if you give it a chance. There’s something curious in every nook and cranny, all you have to do is look for it.

I know it’s totally corny to harp on the “power of the imagination,” but hey—there’s truth in that. We were created in God’s image, and isn’t He the OG creative? I mean, it’s kind of his thing!

The world is only as dull as you paint it to be. A little change in perspective—a little increase in outward observation—and you’ll get out of those creative ruts and soul-smothering exhaustions. You’ll start unfolding the little worlds that live all around you.

Have you ever looked at your car and thought of it as a person; seen a face in the headlights and assigned a personality to the way it drives? Would you like to? It certainly makes Monday traffic easier, and I should know—I grew up in Los Angeles, California. Traffic was my playmate long before I ever learned how to drive…

So,  instead of falling down the endless YouTube Shorts rabbit hole, why don’t you explore mundane curiosities with me?

I’ll share my little insights on inanimate objects; I’ll draw my friends’ cars as people and make fantasy maps out of the stains in my ceiling (I’m trying really hard not to break into “A Whole New World” right now…)

It will be fun, I promise. If it isn’t, something isn’t working.

So come on—let’s explore some mundane curiosities.

Let’s eat something other than potato chips.
